Deepam 2.0 Free Cylinders give eligible households in Andhra Pradesh three free LPG cylinders a year — one in each four-month block. The scheme sounds simple, but the question every family asks is the same: when is my cylinder due, and what happens if I miss the block? This guide to Deepam 2.0 Free Cylinders explains how the 4-month blocks work, when each cylinder is due, how to book, and what to do if the free cylinder does not arrive.

Deepam 2.0 Free Cylinders: How the 4-Month Blocks Work
Deepam 2.0 Free Cylinders are given as three free cylinders a year, one per four-month block. The year is divided into three blocks: April to July, August to November, and December to March. In each block, an eligible household can get one free cylinder. The blocks are the key to the whole scheme — the benefit is counted block by block, not month by month, and not as a lump sum at the start of the year. Under G.O.Ms.No.12 dated 25.10.2024, for subsequent years the 3 free cylinders are supplied once in 4 months, one cylinder per block.
That matters because a cylinder taken in one block does not count against the next block. If you take your free cylinder in April, you are entitled to another one in the August–November block, and a third in the December–March block. But the blocks do not carry over. A cylinder you did not take in one block cannot be claimed in the next block, and no one can take two free cylinders in one block and count the second one as the next block’s cylinder.
When Each Cylinder Is Due: the Three Blocks of Deepam 2.0
The first Deepam 2.0 block runs from April to July. The second block runs from August to November, covering the monsoon and the festival season. The third block runs from December to March, when cooking gas use is often higher in the winter months. Each block gives one free cylinder, so three blocks give three free cylinders a year.
To know when your cylinder is due, look at the calendar, not at your last booking date. If the current month falls in a block and you have not yet taken that block’s free cylinder, it is due now. Book it through your LPG distributor as normal — the booking process is the same as for a paid cylinder. Keep the booking receipt and the delivery record, and check that the benefit has come through via DBT. If you are unsure whether your household is eligible, ask at your LPG distributor or at the Grama/Ward Sachivalayam, and keep your ration card and Aadhaar details ready.
How to Book Your Free Cylinder Under Deepam 2.0
Book your Deepam 2.0 free cylinder through your LPG distributor, exactly as you book a normal refill — by phone, through the distributor’s app, or in person. The distributor’s system should recognise the free cylinder for the current block. Make sure your LPG connection details are up to date first: if your mobile number, Aadhaar or bank details have changed, update them, and complete your LPG e-KYC if it is pending. Our guide to LPG e-KYC Update 2026 explains what to do.
Book early in the block rather than at the end. Distributors handle many bookings in the last days of a block, and a delivery that slips past the block’s end can mean the free cylinder for that block is lost. Book in the first half of the block, keep the booking receipt as proof of the booking date, and follow up with the distributor if the cylinder has not arrived within a few days. If you do not yet have an LPG connection, ask your LPG distributor about a new connection and about the free-connection scheme for poor households.
After booking, keep the booking number and the delivery acknowledgement. When the cylinder is delivered, check the seal and the receipt. The free cylinder benefit reaches you via DBT, so your Aadhaar-seeded bank account must be active — if the benefit has not arrived, check your bank account and your Aadhaar seeding status before assuming the cylinder was not free.
Deepam 2.0 and Your Ration Card: What to Keep Updated
Your ration card is the household record behind many benefits, including cooking gas support. If your ration card details are out of date — a family member has moved out, a new member has been added, or the address has changed — update them at the Grama/Ward Sachivalayam. An out-of-date card can cause confusion when eligibility is checked, so sort it out before the next block begins rather than during it.
You can check your card’s status on the NBM portal — our guide to AP Rice Card Status Check Online explains how to check by Aadhaar. Keep the card, your Aadhaar and your LPG consumer number together in one place, so that any check at the distributor or the Sachivalayam takes minutes instead of a day.
If Your Free Cylinder Does Not Arrive
If your Deepam 2.0 free cylinder does not arrive, start with the distributor: ask whether the booking was recorded as a free cylinder for the current block, and ask for the booking status in writing if needed. Check your bank account for the DBT benefit, and check whether your Aadhaar is seeded to that account — a failed seeding is a common reason for a missing benefit. Our guide to New White Ration Card in AP explains the household eligibility rules that underlie many of these benefits, and our guide to the AAY Card in AP explains the poorest-household card.
If the distributor cannot resolve it, raise a grievance through the helpline 1902 or the portal at gsws-nbm.ap.gov.in, giving your consumer number, the booking number and the block concerned. Keep copies of everything. One honest note: the exact grievance route for Deepam 2.0 can change, so if the portal’s options do not match this description, ask at the Sachivalayam which route to use for an LPG benefit complaint.
